iPhone to support RCS messaging from next year: Apple has confirmed that iPhones will support RCS messaging from next year. This is a major change for the company, which has previously resisted adopting the standard.

Most Android phones today use RCS messaging standards. It offers a number of features that are not available in SMS, such as read receipts, typing indicators, and high-resolution media sharing.

In this article we will tell you about iPhone to support RCS messaging from next year. It will also give iPhone users access to a number of new features.

iPhones To Support RCS Messaging from Next Year

Apple recently decided that it would adopt the RCS messaging standard. This might enable seamless communication between iPhones and Android phones.

This will put an end to the drama that surrounds the green and blue bubbles. Which embarrassed android users during group chats. Since they faced discrimination for not being a part of Apple’s walled garden.

“We are going to add support for RCS Universal Profile. The standard as currently published by the GSM Association,” by an Apple spokesperson, reached by 9to5Mac.

They also said, unlike SMS and MMS iMessages used today; RCS will provide a “better interoperability experience” between Android phones and iPhones.

iMessages To Gain RCS support

It is surprising that Apple has admitted that RCS is better than SMS and MMS. The catch is that iMessage are not getting replaced by RCS on iPhones. Instead, the company will add support for RCS in iMessage.

According to a post on 9to5Mac, iMessage will still remain the primary means of communication among iPhone owners. Features on iMessages like Memoji, handwritten notes and others will not be taken down. They will continue to be limited to iPhone users only.

On the other hand, adoption of RCS could bring in several cross-platform messaging functionalities which could include sharing locations, high-resolution images and video sharing, typing indicators and read receipts.

When Will RCS Be Available on Your iPhone?

Android phone users will no longer feel excluded from the cool club thanks to this decision. You may be wondering when RCS will be available on iPhones.

Apple will add RCS messaging support to all the iPhones. Which will come as a software update at some point in early 2024. For now we don’t know any exact date.

Finally, the online campaign against the bothersome blue bubble and Google’s efforts paid off.

RCS To Become The New Standard in Mobile Messaging

RCS, which stands for Rich Communication Services, might replace SMS and MMS in the coming future. One of its advantages is that it offers features, like read receipts and no restrictions on media size or character count.

Additionally RCS works not only on data but also on WiFi. While iMessage provides end to end encryption by default RCS does not offer the level of security.

In a press release Apple highlighted iMessage as the “best and most secure messaging experience for Apple users.”

It’s worth noting that even though Apple has decided to adopt RCS we believe that green bubbles will still be present. There’s a reason behind this decision.
