Over 500 Crore Cyber Attacks on Indian Websites Exposed in Report; This Sector Becomes the Prime Target

Cyber Attacks on Indian Websites: Retail and online commerce sectors were mainly the target of carding-related attacks. Industries like IT consulting and services manufacturing, banking marketing, telecommunications and advertising were also scrutinized. 

In addition to card cracking and credential stuffing, Ashish Tandon, CEO of IndusFace, notes a rising prevalence of bot-driven low-rate distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks.

In 2023 in 2023, there were over 5.14 billion cyberattacks on Indian websites and apps. The healthcare sector was hit the most. This was revealed in a report released on Thursday.

Ashish Tandon, CEO of IndusFace, mentioned, “In addition to card cracking and credential stuffing, there is a growing prevalence of bot-driven, low-rate distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks.”

IndusFace’s Aptrana network has blocked 6.8 billion attacks across the globe. Of those, 5.14 billion attacks were targeted at Indian businesses, SMEs as well as government entities.

The report states that an average rise in 63 percent recorded in cyber-attacks from the beginning of the quarter until the fourth quarter of 2023. In addition to India the most significant sources of cyber-attacks are America, Britain, Russia, Germany and Singapore.
