1. Journal App:
Apple’s Journal app is coming to the iPhone with an iOS 17.2 update that uses on-device machine learning for personalized writing suggestions.
The Journal app was revealed at WWDC 2023 in June this year, and it has Data from the device that displays writing-related topics called “Reflections.”
After a specific time period of not being used, the journal app locks itself to ensure user privacy which requires you to authenticate it with your passcode or face ID.
2. Reacting using live stickers messages:
Apple launched Live Stickers with iOS 17. If you want to make stickers out of photos on your phone, this feature is really useful. In its forthcoming iOS 17.2 update, Apple will allow users to respond to texts in Messages using Live Stickers.
To activate the feature simply long press on the text you want to respond to and when a menu pops up select ‘Add Sticker’ and then pick the desired sticker. Emojis may also be used as replies in conversations.
3. New translate option for Action Button:
iOS 17.2 adds a great new feature which enhances the ability of the Action Button. So, with this new addition, users can now use their voice to translate text effortlessly.
What you need to do next is press and hold the Action Button so you can enable voice translation too.
The iPhone will transcribe your speech instantly and display it as a translation if you speak into it after activating this feature.
4. Changing default notification sound and haptic patterns:
In iOS 17.2 beta 4, there is a new feature that allows users to customize the default notification sound.
It seems Apple has also added the ability to adjust notification sound because users complained that the default sound was too low.
The tech giant has additionally included another feature where other than choosing from various available options, you can design your own custom haptic pattern.
To customize notification sounds go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Default Alerts menu.
5. More widgets:
Apple seems to have added three new widgets for its pre-installed Weather app on iOS: “Details,” “Daily Forecast,” and “Sunrise and Sunset.”
The widgets titled “Daily forecast” and “Sunrise and Sunset” provide information about the weather, the forecast, as well as details about when the sun will rise and set in your location.
On the other hand, the “Details” widget showcases data such as the chance of precipitation, UV index, wind speed and more.
Moreover it seems that there will soon be a widget called “Clock Digital” in the Clock app that displays the time digitally. This is actually the time that a digital clock widget has been introduced to iPhones.
