Meta-owned platform WhatsApp has taken big action. The company has banned about 69 lakh WhatsApp accounts in India due to unethical activities.

These have been banned under the new IT Rules 2021. The company said that all these accounts have been banned between December 1 and 31. Let us know about this news.

Why were they banned?

WhatsApp said in its monthly compliance report that about 1,658,000 of these accounts were actively banned before any reports from users and now the company has provided information about all the banned accounts.

The company explained that this user-safety report includes details of user complaints received and actions taken by WhatsApp, as well as WhatsApp’s own preventive actions to deal with abuse on our platform.
