How WhatsApp is working on a new dark interface for the web client?
Just three months ago there was a rumour about WhatsApp’s new sidebar for the web client.
WhatsApp aims to provide the web client with a more modern look in order to enhance messaging experience for users.
WhatsApp is currently developing another background color that is specifically for dark themes while still working on revamping the sidebar.
The update will improve the web client’s aesthetics. This change will make it easier for users’ eyes.
WhatsApp’s New Interface
WhatsApp plans on introducing a new color scheme for the dark theme as shown in the attached screenshot. A future update will let some beta testers access this new look.
This is not just about aesthetics, but also about enhancing visual experience and aligning with overall design.
There will be a slight yet noticeable change from #111b20 to #12181c that will improve the look of the interface and reduce eye strain, especially in dim lightening conditions.
“We consider that by changing the color scheme of dark theme we will meet the growing need of our customers for a looking-new experience and enhance its aesthetics,” as said by WhatsApp.
“We think that the update will target at users with changing demands for an updated interface.”

How Will This Update Help Users?
Moreover, it should be noted that creating a new colour for the dark theme is nothing strange particularly when considering Android’s most recent app overhaul which has seen some major changes such as adding a bottom navigation bar and updating dark theme’s colour scheme.
Nowadays, due to platform alignment and aesthetic updates consistency, when shifting from one platform to another users would have a familiar appearance.
